Barbara Kavelines

Barbara Kavelines of Tobyhanna was born with Down Syndrome but she has a strong desire to help, teach and nurture young children.

Recently, she graduated from Northampton Community College with a certification as a paraprofessional in special education.

Through a grant, Barbara is able to work in the Stroudsburg School District.

Elusive dream close to becoming a reality

Barbara Kavelines is so close to reaching her dream of becoming a teacher, she can almost taste it.

Seven years ago, on Take Your Daughter to Work Day, Kavelines came to work with her mother, Mary Louise Kavelines, a speech and language therapist at Morey Elementary School in Stroudsburg.
